Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Biotechnology

The Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Biotechnology is a postgraduate research programme offered at the University of Nairobi and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). The programme trains scholars to conduct advanced research on plant molecular biology, genetic engineering, tissue culture, and biotechnological approaches to crop improvement, contributing to food security and agricultural innovation in Kenya and globally.

Students have access to UoN's Department of Plant Science and Crop Protection and JKUAT's biotechnology facilities, and collaborate with KALRO, ILRI, and international agricultural research centres.
