Diploma in Geophysical Exploration Technology

Geophysical Exploration Technology Level 6 is a TVET CDACC-accredited diploma programme listed on KUCCPS under the Technical Courses cluster. It trains geophysical technologists who apply seismic, magnetic, gravity, resistivity, and electromagnetic techniques to explore and characterise subsurface resources including geothermal reservoirs, minerals, and groundwater.

The curriculum was developed under the EASTRIP project by KenGen's Geothermal Training Centre in collaboration with TVET CDACC. It covers geophysical methods, data acquisition and processing, subsurface imaging, resource assessment, and interpretation of geophysical signals. The programme aligns with international exploration standards.

The expansion of geothermal exploration, mining, and groundwater assessment creates sustained demand for trained geophysical technologists. Training combines theoretical instruction with field exercises at active geothermal sites and data processing workshops. The programme uses a hybrid learning model with online modules and mandatory in-person practical sessions. CDACC assessment includes written tests, practical demonstrations, and portfolio submissions.
