Diploma in Emergency Medical Technician
The Diploma in Emergency Medical Technology is a three-year KMTC programme examined by KNEC that prepares learners for careers as emergency medical technicians. The course covers human anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, patient assessment, trauma management, and community health, equipping graduates to provide pre-hospital emergency care.
Students develop competencies in patient assessment, airway management, trauma care, cardiac life support, patient stabilisation, ambulance operations, and emergency response coordination. The programme also covers medical microbiology, biochemistry, and research methods in health, ensuring graduates have both practical emergency skills and a solid scientific foundation for clinical decision-making.
Kenya's emergency medical services sector is expanding, with increasing recognition of the need for professional pre-hospital care. Road traffic accidents, industrial incidents, and medical emergencies require trained responders who can provide immediate life-saving interventions.
