Diploma in Educational Administration

The Diploma in Educational Administration is a programme that equips educators and aspiring administrators with skills in school administration, institutional management, and educational governance. The curriculum covers educational management principles, school administration, human resource management, financial management, education policy and law, and institutional development.

Trainees develop competencies in education planning, school governance, curriculum management, quality assurance, and crisis management in educational institutions. The programme emphasises transformational leadership, ICT integration in education management, and evidence-based decision-making through action research.

In Kenya, the programme is offered by institutions including KEMI (Kenya Education Management Institute) and universities such as Maseno University. It targets practising teachers, heads of institutions, deputy principals, heads of departments, and all educators aspiring to leadership positions in schools, TVETs, and other educational institutions.

Training combines coursework, case studies, and action research projects. Assessment includes continuous assessment tests, assignments, research projects, and end-of-module examinations. The programme is examined by KNEC and accredited by the Ministry of Education.

Graduates work as school administrators, education managers, institutional administrators, education officers, and quality assurance officers. Many serve as principals, deputy principals, or heads of department in secondary schools, primary schools, and TVET institutions.

The programme suits practising teachers with a minimum of C in KCSE or P1/S1 certificate with at least two years of work experience who aspire to educational leadership and management roles.
