Bachelor of Science in Leather Technology
The Bachelor of Science in Leather Technology is a four-year programme offered at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology and the University of Nairobi. It trains students in the processing of hides and skins into leather and the production of leather goods, addressing a critical skills gap in Kenya leather industry.
Students study leather chemistry, tanning processes, leather goods manufacturing, footwear design, quality control, and environmental management in tanneries. Entry requires a KCSE mean grade of C+ with at least C+ in Mathematics and Chemistry, and C in Physics. Diploma holders in Leather Technology or related fields may receive credit transfers. The programme is offered full-time over four academic years.
