The Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship and Small Enterprises Management is a four-year degree programme that prepares graduates to start, manage, and grow small businesses. The programme equips students with entrepreneurial skills and business management knowledge.
The curriculum covers entrepreneurship, small business management, business planning, venture creation, financial management, marketing management, business law, human resource management, operations management, innovation management, project management, strategic management, accounting, business research methods, enterprise development, and digital entrepreneurship.
Teaching combines lectures, case studies, business plan development, industrial attachment, and a research project. Students develop skills in opportunity identification, business planning, financial analysis, marketing strategy, and enterprise management. The programme emphasises practical entrepreneurship and small business growth.
Graduates pursue careers as entrepreneurs, small business managers, business consultants, enterprise development officers, startup founders, business analysts, and project managers. Opportunities exist in self-employment, SMEs, banks, microfinance institutions, county governments, business consulting firms, and enterprise development agencies.
The programme is offered at Egerton University and Murang'a University of Technology, both public institutions. Admission requires a KCSE mean grade of C+ with C in English or Kiswahili and C in Mathematics. The programme runs for eight semesters with September and January intakes.
Accreditation is provided by the Commission for University Education (CUE). Annual tuition is approximately KES 183,600 at Murang'a University of Technology and KES 209,700 at Egerton University based on KUCCPS data.
