Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness

The Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness is a four-year degree programme that combines agricultural science with business and economic principles. The programme prepares graduates to manage agricultural enterprises, analyse agricultural markets, and contribute to agricultural value chain development.

The curriculum covers agribusiness management, agricultural economics, farm management, agricultural marketing, supply chain management, agricultural finance, production economics, agricultural policy, entrepreneurship, cooperatives management, international trade, accounting, business planning, and research methods.

Teaching combines lectures, case studies, field visits, industrial attachment, and a research project. Students develop skills in farm business analysis, agricultural market assessment, financial planning, and value chain management. The programme emphasises practical agribusiness management and enterprise development.

Graduates pursue careers as agribusiness managers, farm managers, agricultural economists, agricultural consultants, marketing officers, finance officers, supply chain coordinators, and entrepreneurs. Opportunities exist in agricultural companies, banks, cooperatives, county governments, NGOs, and self-employment.

The programme is offered at multiple universities including Egerton University, University of Nairobi, JKUAT, Maseno University, and Moi University as public institutions. Admission requires a KCSE mean grade of C+ with C+ in Mathematics and two science or business subjects. The programme runs for eight semesters.

Accreditation is provided by the Commission for University Education (CUE). Annual tuition ranges from approximately KES 183,600 to KES 275,400 at public universities based on KUCCPS data.
