Bachelor of Purchasing and Supplies Management
The Bachelor of Purchasing and Supplies Management is a four-year degree programme that prepares graduates for professional careers in procurement, purchasing, and supplies management. The programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills in supply chain operations and procurement management.
The curriculum covers principles of purchasing and supply, procurement management, inventory management, stores management, logistics and transportation, contract management, supply chain management, purchasing law, cost accounting, business statistics, operations management, quality management, supplier relationship management, and research methods.
Teaching combines lectures, case studies, simulations, industrial attachment, and a research project. Students develop practical skills in procurement planning, supplier evaluation, inventory control, stores management, and contract negotiation. The programme emphasises ethical procurement and regulatory compliance.
Graduates pursue careers as purchasing managers, supplies managers, procurement officers, stores managers, inventory controllers, contract managers, and supply chain analysts. Opportunities exist in government, manufacturing, retail, logistics companies, NGOs, and international organisations.
The programme is offered at Co-operative University of Kenya, Kisii University, Dedan Kimathi University, Egerton University, Taita Taveta University, and University of Embu, all public institutions. Admission requires a KCSE mean grade of C+ with C in Mathematics and English. The programme runs for eight semesters.
Accreditation is provided by the Commission for University Education (CUE). Annual tuition is approximately KES 209,700 at Egerton University based on KUCCPS data.
