Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing, Industrial and Textile Engineering

The Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing, Industrial and Textile Engineering is a five-year programme that prepares students for professional practice in manufacturing systems, industrial processes and textile production. Students study manufacturing technology, industrial engineering, textile processing, production management and quality control. The programme combines manufacturing engineering with textile specialisation, preparing graduates for Kenya's textile and manufacturing sectors.

Students develop competencies in manufacturing process design, textile production, industrial automation, quality control, production planning and supply chain management. They learn to design manufacturing systems, optimise production lines, manage textile processes and implement quality systems. The programme covers engineering mathematics, manufacturing technology, textile science, industrial engineering and production management.

In Kenya, the textile and manufacturing sector is a priority under Vision 2030 and the Big Four Agenda. Kenya's cotton revival, EPZ textile factories and local manufacturing push create demand. The Engineers Board of Kenya regulates the profession. Graduates find roles in textile factories, manufacturing firms, EPZ companies, consulting firms and government agencies.

Teaching is delivered through lectures, laboratory sessions, workshop practice, industrial attachment and research projects. Students work with manufacturing equipment, textile machinery, CAD/CAM systems and quality testing instruments. The programme includes a final-year design or research project.

Graduates pursue careers as manufacturing engineers, textile engineers, industrial engineers, production managers and quality engineers. Some work for textile factories or manufacturing companies. Others join EPZ firms, consulting companies or government agencies.
